Passing the Torch: Mentoring Gen Z Leaders

Bridging the Gap

We asked Elena Rodriguez about her work with young leaders in urban settings.

Interviewer: How do you approach mentoring someone who thinks so differently than you?

Elena: It starts with humility. I don't see myself as a 'boss,' but as a learner. Gen Z wants authenticity. They don't want a perfectly polished talk; they want to see your scars and hear how God sustained you through them.

Core Pillars for Young Leaders

  1. Shared Responsibility: Give them meaningful work, not just 'filler' tasks.
  2. Cultural Sensitivity: Understand the unique pressures of the digital age.
  3. Theological Depth: Don't simplify the gospel; challenge them to engage with deep scripture.

It is about mutual respect and recognizing that the Holy Spirit is just as active in their hearts as He was in ours at their age.
